A Call for Action: The Role of the NCAA and College Athletic Departments

Mental Wellness Crisis

The NCAA and college athletic departments have a critical role to play in addressing the mental wellness crisis among their athletes. It's time to step up and take full responsibility for the well-being of these young people. This means going beyond the physical and looking after their mental health with the same vigor and commitment. We've got to hold these institutions accountable for creating a culture that prioritizes mental wellness just as much as winning games.

More than a policy

It's not just about having policies on paper; it's about implementing them in ways that make a real difference in the lives of student-athletes. This includes offering comprehensive support services, from counseling to mental health education, and ensuring that coaches and staff are trained to recognize and respond to signs of a mental health crisis. The goal is to create a supportive environment where athletes feel empowered to seek help without stigma or fear.
