Addressing the Stigma

Steps Towards Mental Wellness in Athletics

Breaking the silence around mental health issues in sports is crucial. It's about changing the game so that mental health struggles are taken as seriously as physical injuries. You've probably heard someone say, "Just shake it off" or "It's all in your head," as if mental toughness alone can overcome these challenges. But it's not that simple. We need to create an environment where athletes feel safe to speak up about what they're going through without fear of judgment or losing their spot on the team.

Education is Necessary

Steps towards mental wellness in athletics include educating coaches, parents, and teammates on the signs of mental health struggles and how to support someone going through it. It's about building a team culture where mental health is a part of the conversation, not a taboo topic. By doing so, we can help our athletes not just survive but thrive, both on the field and off it.
